In Sylhet Division, girls as young as 8 were missing school to fetch water. The installation of three Volk-funded tube wells in 2024 eliminated the daily 5-hour water run for over 200 families. Within one academic year, girls' enrolment at Char Mohanpur School jumped from 34% to 71%.

Local NGO partner RDRS Bangladesh documented the shift: attendance, exam scores, and even teacher motivation all improved measurably in the first six months.

A Teacher Called Emeka, and the 48 Students Who Never Gave Up

Emeka Obi hasn't missed a single day of school in six years — and neither have 47 of his 48 students. Teaching in a flood-prone area of Rivers State, Nigeria, Emeka used a Volk community education grant to rebuild his school's only classroom after the 2023 floods destroyed it in under 36 hours.

What makes the story extraordinary is not the building. It's that parents, students, and local businesses all contributed labour. Volk's $12,000 grant was the catalyst for a $31,000 community rebuild project.
