Founded in 2010 by Margaret and Daniel Volk following a volunteer mission to East Africa, Volk Donations began as a grassroots effort to provide schoolbooks and nutritional meals to orphaned children in rural Kenya. What started as a small fundraising campaign among friends and family quickly grew into a full-scale, internationally recognized nonprofit organization with programs spanning three continents.
Today, Volk Donations is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit headquartered in Denver, Colorado. Our model focuses on three integrated pillars: Child Welfare — providing safe housing, nutrition, and mental health support; Education Access — funding schools, scholarships, and digital learning; and Community Empowerment — partnering with local organizations to create self-sustaining infrastructure.
We have maintained a Charity Navigator four-star rating for nine consecutive years, and 89 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to program delivery. Our work has been recognized by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs as a model for scalable humanitarian intervention.
Volk Donations partners with over 180 grassroots organizations across 42 countries, employing a localization-first approach — recruiting, training, and compensating local staff at fair market wages. This ensures cultural sensitivity, community trust, and lasting impact beyond the scope of any single donation cycle.
